How Do You Make a Major Life Decision?
Make the decision structurally. Separate what is reversible from what is not, spend money and time buying information about the irreversible parts, choose the option that keeps the most future options open at acceptable cost, and set a date to review. Certainty is not available before the decision — only after it.

Most of what feels final is reversible at a price. Write the price down. The list gets much shorter and much less frightening.
Set the review date first
A decision with a review date is an experiment. A decision without one is an identity claim — and those are much harder to revise.
