How Do You Make a Career Pivot That Holds?
Pivot on your pattern, not your title. Identify what transfers — the capability underneath the role — then stage the move: build evidence in the new domain while still funded by the old one, and only exit when the evidence exists. Career changes fail far more often from bad sequencing than from bad direction.
What actually transfers
Judgement, taste, relationship capital and the specific class of problem you are unusually good at reading. Titles do not transfer; those do.
Stage the move
Overlap the old and new for as long as you can tolerate. The overlap is the risk control.
